Creative access contexts involve different levels of social media engagement, some may even require the removal of a social media presence altogether for the duration of an assignment. Below are some tools and tips if you have security concerns.

Facebook
  • Clean up your "likes" and "about me" section
  • People don’t have to find you by looking for a missionary but can find you based on what you "like."
  • Search for [Your First and Last name] + Missionary/Missionaries
  • Search for [Your First and Last name] + Africa Inland Mission.
  • Search for anything else that may connect you to missions.
  • Message friends, families, churches, other social media accounts to remove content that you are featured in (Photos, videos, posts, etc.)
  • If you are simply tagged in a general status with no photo, either remove yourself from the tag or have them remove you from it.
  • Consider deactivating/deleting your Facebook account.
Instagram
  • Change account settings to "Private" So that only those you "approve" can follow you or see your posts.
  • Consider disconnecting other social media accounts (Facebook) from Instagram to prevent auto-posting
  • Change profile picture and username
  • Consider deactivating/deleting your Instagram account
Twitter
  • Change account settings to "Private" So that only those you "approve" can follow you or see your posts.
