What’s the difference between a Facebook Profile, Page, and Group?

Pages are places on Facebook where artists, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations and nonprofits can connect with their fans or customers. When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they can start seeing updates from that Page in their News Feed.

Why this might be worth considering

  • Probably the simplest (and free) way to get a "blog" out there
  • A Page is open and public like a blog - Visitors do not need to be Facebook users
  • Encourages engagement (much as Facebook naturally does)
  • Allows a story feed, links back to your blog, newsletter sign ups, even donations
  • Reaches more people? (How many of your supporters are on Facebook frequently?)
  • Easy URL you can put on a prayer card to gather more followers

Examples and Tutorials:

The Andre’s are an AIM family headed out to Africa in 2017. We think their Facebook page is a great example.

On a prayer card, all they would have to share is this simple Url: facebook.com/andresinafrica

Here’s some info on setting up a page like this:

A Facebook Page also has an option for writing a "Note," which is very much like a blog post. It formats your post in a readable fashion for longer pieces of content. Using this feature, you could use Facebook like a blog.
